It’s so easy isn’t it? To give into the temptation to over-eat in order to comfort ourselves during these difficult times. Emotions are running high due to our understandable feelings of anxiety and stress. Or perhaps you’re feeling overwhelmed or depressed with everything that’s going on in your life at the moment? So many of us take sanctuary in food - using it as a distraction or as a source of comfort when we’re feeling bored, angry, sad and anxious or whatever emotion we’re experiencing at that time.

I am a Cognitive Hypnotherapist and I can help you to lose weight by using a combination of techniques such as hypnosis, NLP, CBT as well as teaching you the tools to beat food cravings using something called EFT. I offer personalised coaching and support along your journey. It’s not about following a particular diet, but it can put you on the path to understanding what healthy eating really is. By learning to tune in to feelings of hunger or fullness (by scaling those feelings) it allows you to decide what or if you need to eat at that time, rather than using food as an automatic response. I help you to understand what a healthy portion of food should look like and enable you to make the right choices. My programme teaches you how to slow down your eating and really savour each mouthful, and by following this more mindful approach you’ll be able to really enjoy your food and realise you’ve had enough to eat. It’s not about deprivation as there are no forbidden foods. It’s about steering you towards a healthy lifelong approach to weight loss, with the aim to break the pattern of yo-yo dieting that often results from following formal diets that frequently lead to gaining more weight once the diet has finished.

Hypnotherapy is a unique approach to losing weight and maintaining weight loss by reprogramming your relationship to food. It helps you to change your thought patterns and behaviours by listening daily to an Mp3 of positive post-hypnotic suggestions based on your own personal goals. You will find that you naturally make healthy choices and feel more motivated to move towards an active lifestyle.

One of the ways hypnotherapy can work is to separate our emotions from food. Often, we can self-sabotage our efforts by responding to thoughts about food rather than responding to true hunger. Under hypnosis we can usually determine where the link between emotions and food originates. This is often from childhood and we can change the meaning behind these events and release any emotions attached to them, enabling you to break the patterns of eating that are causing your weight problem. One strategy I use to help clients understand their relationship to food is by encouraging them to log any thoughts and feelings attached to unhealthy eating.
